The Issue

200+ terminals attempted a simultaneous staggered 3GB+ firmware update over 802.11n, saturating network.

The Fix

RF isolation solution; dedicated SSID on smaller WAP; physically isolated in metal trailer to lower noise floor; batch prioritisation.

Result

90% of devices updated successfully, reducing impact on wider event network and payment processing availability.

Payment gateway outage threatened bar operations.

The Fix

Redundant AWS infra; migrated core VPN appliance + supporting stack across APAC regions to bypass outage zone.
